Traverse City West Senior High School COED Varsity/ Junior Varsity Wrestling Overview
The Wrestling program is designed for students in grades 9 - 12. We want the Athletes to become a strong role model for their future. We focus on how Wrestling will transfer over to daily operations with work and family. We will teach everything from the basics, to the high level techniques needed to compete at all levels. We make goals as Individuals and as a Team. We ask athletes to practice discipline for the sport, and to keep a positive atmosphere on and off the mat.
West Senior High Athletic Core Values:
Responsibility, Commitment, and Character.
The practices we create are intended to provide wrestlers the tools they need to grow in the sport and compete at higher levels, both on the mat, and in life. By providing beginners their own dedicated sessions, the practices enable us to focus on chain wrestling concepts, more progressive techniques and the intensity needed to help each wrestler reach their potential. I Have a very Hands on approach working with kids to get to know them better and to enjoy the fun with the student athletes.
Pillars for success:
Be a Good Human on and off the mat!
Growth with Mental and Physical Strength!
Being Comfortable with being uncomfortable!
Goals for the program:
-Have fun! Learn the Sport.
-Being People of Strong Character (Follow Character Contract)
-Effort and Commitment (Practice hard and show up every day)
-Having a Positive and Productive Attitude (Building up to a Leadership role)
-Being a Good Teammate (Bring kids up to higher levels.)
-Competing Relentlessly. (Offseason)
